I love photography regardless of where I’m shooting, but there are definitely some perks with the job, and traveling to some beautiful locations is one of them. Rachel and Adam’s wedding was my second international wedding. They chose a beautiful beachside restaurant in Punta Cana named Jellyfish for their venue. Jellyfish had a spot for the bridesmaids to get ready, so I began taking photos there. The groomsmen arrived looking very comfortable wearing white shirts and khaki pants. I knew they were going to be a fun bunch right from the beginning.
The ceremony took place on the beach with the deep aqua ocean behind them. It was very windy and sand was flying everywhere, so it was a good thing that the beautiful ceremony was also a relatively short one. I took group photos and bridal party photos on on the beach. Rachel, Adam and I moved from the beach to the front of the restaurant for photos until it was time for the reception. Dinner was in the Jellyfish and the reception was around a dance floor on the beach.
Rachel and Adam invited some Dominican dancers to the floor to get the festivities underway, and after a short time, everyone was dancing. Later in the night, we did one more shoot on the beach. At this time, the wind was blowing very hard and it felt like we were in a massive sandblaster. I knew it was very difficult for Rachel and Adam to keep their eyes open, but they toughed it out and we got some really great shots.
Congratulations to Rachel and Adam! I’m very thankful that you made me a part of your amazing day.
