Ashley and Bob

I’m sure it’s not easy planning a wedding from nearly 1,000 miles away, but you wouldn’t know it from the perfect wedding day that Ashley and Bob (and friends and family, I’m sure) worked so hard for. Everything was perfect.

Pete and I started out with Bob and the guys at Quail Hollow Resort in Concord. That’s also where the reception was held. After snapping some shots of the guys getting ready, we hopped over to the ladies in Mentor. Ashley spent most of the time getting ready in the living room, which was great because there was nice, soft light coming through the sliding doors. We captured a ton of great shots there.

The ceremony was at the Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland Heights. The Hanna Garden is a beautiful spot for a wedding and offers a lot of great opportunities for the creative time as well. Inside the museum is wonderful too. We only had a few minutes to take photos at Western Reserve, so we headed to Colby Park for the rest of our creative time.

The reception has a few surprises that were funny and touching. In the middle of the first dance, it sounded like the music was skipping and going haywire, but it was all part of the plan. Next thing I knew, Ashley and Bob were freestyling to a mix of popular dance music, which ended with the phrase “Word to your mother” (we all know that song). Then, they seamlessly jumped right back into their original slow dance. That really go the party going.

Ashley’s brother, Sean, also had a surprise. He sang “Grow Old With You” after the toasts. It was really special for Ashley and Bob.

I was impressed with Ashley’s posing. During the creative time, she really didn’t need any help at all. She was all about “magazine” look and she pulled it off great.

I wanted to take advantage of the huge light source that the windows provided, combined with the elegant environment of the museum.
