I’m spoiled. I have the most wonderful couples week after week.
Melissa and Joseph are an amazing couple. I’ve never seen a bride that smiles and laughs as much as Melissa. It seems like the only time she stopped smiling is when I asked her to “be serious” for a shot. She’s just non-stop fun. Joseph is one of the most involved grooms I’ve ever worked with because he was the one who contacted me whenever there was a change of plans or a need to discuss details. I often wish grooms were more involved so I can get to know them a little better. Joseph and Melissa were so kind and really made me feel like an important guest instead of vendor. Being at that kind of comfort level really goes a long way for me as a photographer.
Melissa and Joseph were willing to try anything that popped in my head. It was really cold by the lake, but they were tough and joked their way through it. I really got the sense that they realized there’s only one shot at this, so make the absolute most of it, which I really appreciate. We had a great time moving around Mall C and using the various props and backdrops. We endured the cold as long as we could before heading over to Johnny’s for the beautiful and intimate reception with close family.
If you’re not familiar with Johnny’s, you must check it out. The food is amazing. The reception was in the huge wine cellar in the basement. Stone walls and wooden wine racks filled with hundreds of bottles of the best wine make it a totally unique venue. Johnny’s management was kind enough to let us arrive early to use the cellar for photos.
I had such a great time with Melissa and Joseph and everyone else involved with the wedding, especially the handsome little guy, Blaise.
Like I said, I’m spoiled (I’m knocking on wood).
Here’s a few of my favorite shots.
